Mechanical Security Bollard for Classic Cars and Sports Cars 

A classic car rarely disappears dramatically. It is pushed, winched onto a trailer, or simply driven out with a copied key — usually from a garage where it seemed perfectly safe. Electronic immobilisers offer little protection here: anything that can be switched off electrically can also be bypassed.

The Multiblocker takes the opposite approach. It is a solid steel security bollard, anchored firmly into the ground directly in front of the vehicle or across the exit. No radio signal, no electronics, no retracting mechanism — nothing that can fail or be tampered with. We have designed and manufactured it in our own workshop in Stolberg near Aachen, Germany, since 1990.

Steering wheel locks and wheel clamps can be opened in minutes with common tools, and neither prevents a vehicle from being loaded onto a trailer and driven away. Retrofitted electronic immobilisers interrupt the ignition or the fuel supply — a thief with time and privacy in a quiet garage will bypass both.

The Multiblocker works differently: it physically stands in the way. As long as the bollard is locked, the vehicle cannot be driven, rolled or carried out. And because the system does not retract into the floor, there is no hydraulic or motorised component that could become a point of attack — which is precisely why it can be used in underground car parks, where retractable bollards are ruled out by design.

Anchoring the base. The base is fixed flush to the floor and stays permanently in place. On concrete it is anchored with bolts that cannot be released; on more difficult surfaces it is mounted onto a console set into the ground beforehand.

Fitting and turning the bollard. The bollard itself remains portable. It is placed onto the base using a bayonet fitting and then turned into position.

Locking. Turning the key engages an internal rod locking mechanism of our own design, which blocks the bollard in place. To drive out, you simply unlock it and lift the bollard aside — a matter of seconds, no tools required.

Three details determine how secure the system actually is. The mounting hardware is inaccessible while the bollard is locked. The cylinder is protected against drilling and lock pulling, and replacement keys are supplied only against the security card. And a central web inside the bollard prevents it from being cut through — an attack on the post does not release the locking mechanism but closes it permanently.

Classic and vintage cars, which are particularly exposed because they lack any modern security technology. Sports cars and rare vehicles, where an insurance settlement will never replace what was actually lost. Caravans and motorhomes on private land or storage plots. And car dealerships, halls and underground car parks, where several vehicles can be secured through a single shared exit.

The German specialist magazine Oldtimer Praxis assessed the Multiblocker in its 2019 comparison of mechanical anti-theft devices. The international vehicle security portal MICARE PS lists it as a recommended security system. Can the bollard be cut through? A central web inside the post prevents cutting with common tools. An attack on the bollard does not release the lock — it closes it permanently.

Does it work in an underground car park? Yes. Because the Multiblocker does not retract, no recess in the floor is required. In underground car parks this is the decisive advantage.

What about paving or asphalt? In those cases the base is mounted onto a console set into the ground. We assess the surface beforehand.

How quickly can I get out in the morning? Unlock, turn, lift the bollard aside. A few movements, no tools.

What if I lose the key? Replacement keys are supplied exclusively on presentation of the security card.
